The Leprosy Mission
When you enter the vestibule of the Church you will see on a bench at your left a papier-mache boot. This was made for us in 2010 by the Primary 4 pupils of Maxwellton School, and it is usually filled to the brim Sunday by Sunday with stamps, British and foreign, mint and used, old and new, definitive and commemorative.
Moncreiff members have supported this cause for many a long day, and certainly over the last four years have averaged well over 1000 stamps per Sunday. In very recent years postcards have also been collected - indeed the Mission ingathered some £75,000 during 2010 through the selling of stamps, postcards, cigarette cards, coins and medals.

Occasionally we are given personal collections of both stamps and also first day covers, and such gifts are much welcomed additions for the work. We are blessed in having members who work in medical centres, schools, and large city offices who bring stamps from these sources, whilst several other congregations in East Kilbride and beyond add their support.
All we ask is that the stamps you give are stamps you yourselves would wish to have if you were either philatelists or just wanting a stamp to stick on some item of mail. There really must be clear paper seen on all four sides of the stamps and an example is given below.
