About the Girls Brigade Scotland
Girls' Brigade is a worldwide Christian organization for girls and young women. The Girls' Brigade in Scotland is autonomous as are all the other members of our international family.
We are committed to offering girls a safe, secure environment where they are supervised by adult leaders who work within a Christian framework and have undertaken an Enhanced Disclosure check. Our members are of paramount importance to us and each girl is encouraged to participate in a wide variety of age appropriate activities with a view to enhancing their personal and social development at their own pace.
Girls' Brigade works within local communities to offer a four sided program of informal education that mirrors the Curriculum for Excellence as offered in Scottish schools. It is our belief that every girl has talents to share and skills to develop and that we can provide many opportunities for this in an informal setting. We are committed to offering older members the opportunity to undertake leadership training and service to others is key to what we do in all age groups.
At Girls' Brigade it is our intention to help girls of today become capable, confident citizens of the 21st century.
THE THREE PRINCIPLES
1. The Girls' Brigade has three founding principles:
2. The Brigade acknowledges Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord according to the Scriptures and seeks to fulfill its aim to the glory of one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit
3. The Brigade witnesses to the standard set by Jesus Christ and gives positive teaching on the Christian attitude to life
The Brigade promotes a just society where all people are equally valued.
THE MOTTO
"Seek, Serve and Follow Christ"
THE AIM
"To help girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and through self control, reverence and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment of life"
